Schawarma Records presents "Songs of the Rabbi"
At a Meuchad Conference during October 2018, Producer Matt McKeown and I (Ted Pearce) were trying to define exactly what "Messianic Worship" music is. We decided that the founders of our movement have already established that in local congregations worldwide and we wanted to try and capture it.
Every Shabbat all over the world, very small and humble music teams gather for an hour before services to run over a few simple songs and then perform for their respective congregations to sing. This simple formula always produces a beautiful sound as we lift praises to our God and King, Yeshua.
So we began inviting every worship musician we could find to make their way to Sound Mind Studios in Daytona Beach, FL as we also began soliciting songs from the Rabbis of our movement. Over that week, twenty-seven singers/musicians showed up and we would form three "music teams" per day, who would then choose one song out of three submitted by each Rabbi.
They were directed to do nothing more than what happens on a Shabbat morning. No overdubs, no click-tracks, no synthetic sounds. For the record, everyone paid their own way to Florida to do this, and Matt McKeown donated two weeks of his talent and time to record, mix and master what they did at Sound Mind Studios.
May they all be blessed for this sacrifice. May you be blessed to know that EVERY song on this project was written by a Messianic Rabbi and performed by a local worship artist. May Yeshua be blessed by the praises of our lips and the meditations of our heart.
